The New Mode Hotel Brings A Stylish Touch To Lytham

Drive the few miles along the coast from Blackpool to Lytham and you could be in a different country. The difference between Lancashire’s seaside resort and Lytham could not be more striking.

Whilst the former is built on exuberance and excess, Lytham has a more genteel and refined air with stylish independent boutiques, bars and restaurants.

Added to the mix are two new boutique Mode hotels, I stayed at Mode Lytham in the thriving Clifton Square which is central in the town with all amenities on your doorstep.

MODE HOTEL ST ANNES
Located on the promenade and overlooking St Annes sea-front - Mode Hotel St Annes is a stone's throw from the beach and sand dunes. A seaside break awaits guests, plus the opportunity to stroll along the Victorian pier or past the pretty beach huts just across from the hotel. They offer sea-view boutique-style rooms.

MODE HOTEL LYTHAM
Centrally located in Lytham, with rooms overlooking the Clifton Square, a stay at Mode Hotel Lytham places you right in the heart of the action. The town is a popular shopping venue, especially at the weekend, with a great choice of independent shops. In the evening the square comes alive with a variety of restaurants and bars on the doorstep.

Check-in is unusual - there is no receptionist to greet you. Details are emailed to you prior to arrival, giving you a code to access the key safe outside the building.

Once the code has been entered, lo and behold the key safe door opens and your key card is ready and waiting. French budget hotel chains have been using this method for years. In case of problems and to remove any worries a telephone number is emailed in case you should have any issues with checking in.

The modern boutique rooms have a cosy and homely feel.

The apartments are locally owned and operated. There are various configurations ranging from the compact Snug room to a huge Family Suite.

The 'Roomy Suite' where I stayed was furnished to a high level - though I found that there was not much hanging space.

I particularly liked the drum stool which was underneath the writing desk and was impressed with the very powerful walk in rain shower. Perhaps the drum stool was left there as a reminder of the town’s successful annual Lytham Festival.

There is no lift in the apartments something to consider if you have mobility issues.

A full breakfast can be taken at Zoto’s for £10.00 which is directly underneath Mode. If the weather is kind you can even eat al fresco, with the option of a continental breakfast being delivered to your room.

There is no car parking but there is a council run car park charging £4.50 for 24 hours along with free on street parking a few minutes walk away.

Mode for me felt new, modern and pristine, providing a comfortable stay.
