The hot and humid streets of the Marina Bay circuit in downtown Singapore were the location for this weekend’s Formula 1 action, and, following today’s nighttime Grand Prix, it was Mercedes’ George Russell who claimed a clear-cut lights-to-flag victory.

Hull Kingston Rovers’ Craven Park played host on Sunday 28 September to a thrilling day of Armed Forces rugby league, as the Army and Royal Air Force contested the latest round of the Inter-Services Challenge Cup. In front of an enthusiastic crowd, the Army recorded victory in all three matches, but it was the Royal Navy who ultimately lifted the trophy on points difference.

Great Britain won the joint third most medals at the World Archery Para Championships in Gwangju, South Korea, with five medals overall. GB’s para-archers won one gold and four bronze medals at the event which took place between 22nd and 28th September, including a third-place finish in both the women’s and men’s team compound open doubles.

Last weekend, Sheffield Steelkings defeated Peterborough Phantoms to become the British Para Ice Hockey League Playoff Champions for the third successive time. After defeating Cardiff Huskies in both 2023 and 2024, the Steelkings were successful in retaining the playoff crown for the third successive year as they saw off a strong Phantoms side in London.

The 2025 Formula 1 season continued this weekend around the temporary street circuit in Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan, and this afternoon Max Verstappen cruised to a clear-cut victory, with the Drivers’ Championship leader, Oscar Piastri, having crashed out on the opening lap and with Lando Norris failing to significantly reduce the points advantage of his McLaren teammate.

Oh! What could have been. Dale led this second match in the Northeast until the last eight minutes. As it was, they had to settle for their 1st point of the season which at least moved them two places off the bottom of the league table. Dale may not have dominated possession or territory in the 1st half but they dominated the scoring, going in at half time leading by 10 points to nil.

Lando Norris thoroughly deserved his first British Grand Prix win today
Formula 1 returned to Silverstone this weekend, a venue where it all began back on 13 May 1950, and a packed three days of on-track action culminated in this afternoon’s rain-affected British Grand Prix, which was won by a delighted Lando Norris for McLaren. F1 rivalries, and especially intra-team ones, can often be intense, as each driver wants to prove to his team that he is faster.
