Silver Screen Weekly - What's Coming Up At The Cinema From Friday 26th April

Our film critic and media correspondent has been looking and trawling the new releases. Here's what you can see on the big screen this week.

From Friday 26th April

I.S.S. (15)
This tense and claustrophobic sci-fi thriller comes from director Gabriela Cowperthwaite (Blackfish) and is breathless in every sense of the word. Set onboard the International Space Station, this film sees US and Russian astronauts face friction, as friends become enemies, when a war between the two nations breaks out on Earth, and these cosmonauts are given orders to take over the station. A isolating and compelling concept well executed, I.S.S. is a space set motion picture to see!

Challengers (15)
From director Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name), this romantic sports drama follows Tashi (Zendeya), a former tennis prodigy turned coach, who is married to a champion on a losing streak. Her strategy for her husband's redemption in the sport however takes a shocking turn, when he has to face off against his former best friend....and Tashi's former boyfriend! Giving a whole new meaning to "love" on a tennis court! Critically acclaimed and named by some as one of the best finds of the year, this is one cinematic game you will be engrossed by.

Boy Kills World (18)
Bill Skarsgård is Boy, a deaf-mute man who is looking to gain revenge on the ruthless company that were responsible for his family’s murder. This violent dystopic action thriller combines Battle Royale, The Running Man and John Wick in an anarchic jolt of action entertainment, that is wincingly gory and at times darkly funny - with the film being largely narrated by Boy’s inner voice (Bob’s Burgers H. Jon Benjamin!). Co-starring Famke Janssen, Jessica Rothe, Samara Weaving and Shallot Copley, and produced by Evil Dead’s Sam Raimi.

From Thursday 2nd May

The Fall Guy (12a)
Director David Leitch (Deadpool 2, Bullet Train) pays tribute to stunt artists and action cinema in this exciting, pulse-racing and humorous action/comedy! The Fall Guy sees battle-tested stuntman Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) return unexpectedly to action, when his director ex-girlfriend Jody Moreno’s (Emily Blunt) new blockbuster film is thrown into chaos when the major star of the film Howie (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) unexpectedly disappears. Loosely based on the ‘80s TV show of the same name, The Fall Guy is an absolute big screen blast, with great performances, a charismatic set of characters and a story that just keeps swinging.
