Hannah, Little Alf and Friends: Growing Vegetables, Sunshine and Stories!

Hannah and Little Alf
Hannah and Little Alf
Life on the smallholding is never dull – and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Every day brings a new adventure with Little Alf and all our animal friends. From feeding the goats and walking Winston, my black flat-coated retriever, to planting sunflowers and picking strawberries from the veg patch, no two days are ever quite the same.

This year, I’ve thrown myself into the garden more than ever. There’s something so grounding about growing your own food and flowers – watching tiny seeds sprout into bright sunflowers and juicy strawberries has been one of the most rewarding parts of spring.

The animals, of course, love to join in. Little Alf especially enjoys inspecting the flower beds (usually with the hope of sneaking a nibble!), and the tortoises have taken a liking to the strawberry leaves.

Amidst the gardening and animal chaos, I’ve also been working on something very close to my heart – a brand new children’s book series titled Hannah, Little Alf and Friends. It’s inspired by our real-life adventures here on the smallholding and celebrates everything I love: friendship, nature, and the magic of everyday moments with animals. Writing these stories has been such a joy, and I can’t wait to share them with you soon.

The new series will introduce readers to our little world – from the mischievous goats to the sleepy alpacas and, of course, Little Alf himself, who continues to be the biggest personality in the smallest body. I hope the books encourage children (and grown-ups too!) to slow down, step outside, and enjoy the simple pleasures of the countryside.

As summer approaches, the garden is flourishing, the animals are brimming with vitality, and the pages of my notebook are rapidly filling up.

There are lots of exciting things on the horizon, and I’m so grateful to share them all with you – whether you’ve followed our journey from the start or just joined us now.

Here’s to muddy boots, sunshine, and stories still to come.
