Traffic Bulletin: Slip Road Closures On A66 Tees Viaduct

Drivers wishing to use the westbound A66 on the Tees Viaduct are advised to plan ahead due to slip road closures because of a defective bridge joint discovered overnight.

The defective bride joint was found during a routine overnight inspection and a decision has been taken to close the eastbound A66 exit slip heading for the A19, and reduce the westbound exit slip to one lane for safety reasons and will remain in place while engineers assess and implement repairs.

A lane closure will be in place on the slip road leaving the westbound A66 westbound carriageway leading to the northbound A19.

The slip road from the eastbound A66 to the northbound A19 is fully closed. Drivers should follow the signed diversion via the southbound A19 to the A19/A1130 Mandale Interchange and re-join the northbound A19 carriageway.

Long delays on the approach are expected and drivers in the area are advised to allow extra time for their journeys or seek an alternative route if possible. Signed diversions are in place.
