Two stars of the culinary world are joining forces for a one-night-only takeover at Simon Rogan’s Henrock restaurant in Bowness.

On Sunday, 12 April, Scottish Chef of the Year Roberta Hall-McCarron will team up with Henrock’s own Mark McCabe to create a nine-course feast. Both chefs are well-known to TV fans as finalists on the BBC’s Great British Menu.

The event, held at the Linthwaite House hotel overlooking Windermere, will focus on seasonal ingredients and the chefs' shared Scottish roots.

From Edinburgh to Windermere

Roberta Hall-McCarron is the force behind three of Edinburgh's most popular spots, including The Little Chartroom. Her cooking is inspired by her childhood sailing the Scottish coast.

She will be working alongside Mark McCabe, who moved to the Lake District in 2024 to lead the kitchen at Henrock. Mark previously earned a Michelin Green Star for his focus on sustainability and "farm-to-table" dining.

Roberta Hall-McCarron said: “I’m really looking forward to working with Mark at Henrock... This dinner is a chance to share those influences and present some of our standout dishes to guests.”

A boost for Cumbrian hospitality

Events like these are a major draw for the Lake District's luxury tourism sector, attracting food lovers from across the UK. Tickets for the dinner are priced at £125, with the menu featuring local specialities like Morecambe Bay shrimp and Arbroath smokie.

Mark McCabe added: “Cooking with Roberta is going to be brilliant. I’m excited to spend time in the kitchen together and to create a truly memorable evening for our guests.”

The evening starts at 7pm and spaces are limited. Bookings can be made via the Henrock website, with rooms also available at Linthwaite House for those looking to stay over.
