Dabton House, a prominent new addition to the luxury accommodation sector in South West Scotland, is popping the champagne corks four months on from when it first opened.

The Dumfries & Galloway region, heralded by Lonely Planet as one of its Best in Travel destinations last year, is rapidly emerging as a bucket list destination thanks to its breathtaking natural beauty.

And, thanks to this and the area’s rich heritage, Dabton House has been able to capitalise on tourism opportunities with sporting parties, corporate retreats and general tourism visits from families and individuals.

“We are surrounded by rich heritage and breathtaking natural beauty, and at the heart of this Dabton House presents an enchanting retreat for guests seeking a luxurious escape in the South of Scotland,” said General Manager, Alasdair Knight.

The South of Scotland region has seen an increase in visitor numbers from both tourists and film crews, adding to the ‘Outlander’ effect and the area’s film-induced popularity.

To complement this global recognition, the South of Scotland has had a remarkable year, highlighted by the launch of the new 250-mile ‘Kirkpatrick C2C’ cycle route, linking Stranraer in the west with Eyemouth in the east, coast to coast.

David Hope-Jones, Chief Executive Officer of South of Scotland Destination Alliance (SSDA) expressed his positivity stating, "We are absolutely delighted to share in Dabton House’s successes since its opening and the growing popularity of this region.

"The inclusion of the South of Scotland in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2023 highlights the areas rich diversity, emphasizing the wealth of experiences and natural beauty awaiting visitors in the South of Scotland, from dark skies perfect for star-gazing to breathtaking coastlines and world-renowned walking and cycling routes.

“This accolade, alongside world class new accommodation such as Dabton House, provides a welcome boost to the recovery of the tourism and hospitality sector, and our pride in the South of Scotland's recognition on a global stage, highlighting the positive outcomes for the local economy in both the short and long term.”
