Research Reveals How Some Of The Most Beautiful Places In The World Could Look By 2050

Today around 8.30pm local time, thousands of people will be taking an hour to do something positive for the planet during Earth Hour.

DiscoverCars.com recently produced a report on the environmental damage some of the most popular destinations for road trips around the world could suffer due to climate change, including wildlife and nature reserves. Their report is a stark warning about what could happen to these beautiful places if we do not take action for the environment.

Written in collaboration with environmental specialist and sustainability analyst, Marish Cuenca, the insightful and shocking report contains interactive images with sliders, allowing readers to explore how these places could look by 2050, as shown in the example below.

The beautiful island paradise of Okinawa Island in southern Japan is a popular tourist destination for those visiting the country.

Unfortunately, due to both its location and small island status, Okinawa Island is at a very high risk of becoming submerged by rising sea levels by 2050, and affected by coastal erosion. Located in what is known as “typhoon alley”, the island is regularly hit with severe storms – something that is expected to get a lot worse in the near future.

The environmental expert said Hawaii was at risk of extreme weather events such as drought that would threaten the island’s lush greenery. Volcanic activity could increase, bringing dangerous lava-flow eruptions. Hawaii might also experience increased landslides. All of this adds up to environmental damage that could severely affect the people, the wildlife and the natural landscape of Hawaii.
