Remembering Linda Lewis

Probably best remembered for her cover of It’s In His Kiss which became her biggest hit in the mid-seventies, Linda Lewis was not just a powerful, soulful and emotive vocalist but also a talented session singer.

Her vocals can be heard on tracks by artists as diverse as Rod Stewart, David Bowie, Cockney Rebel and more recently Jamiroquai.

In 1974 she toured with Yusuf/Cat Stevens and also appeared on his ballad How Can I Tell You.

Her appearances on Top of the Pops were numerous along with other pop television programmes of the seventies such as Supersonic.

Although Lewis never capitalised on her big solo hit her five octane range and ability to adapt to a variety of musical styles will be fondly remembered.

Her sister Dee Lewis Clay said on social media:
"It is with the greatest sadness and regret we share the news that our beloved beautiful sister Linda Lewis passed away today peacefully at her home.

"The family asks that you respect our privacy and allow us to grieve at this heartbreaking time."

Linda Lewis died on 3rd May aged 72.
