New Pub-To-pub Walking Package Launches In Rural Cheshire

Two historic inns team up to offer hassle-free hiking experience along the Sandstone Trail.

A new two-night walking package is giving visitors the chance to explore one of Cheshire's most scenic trails without the usual logistics headache.

The 'Walk, Dine & Unwind' experience connects two characterful village pubs – The Swan in Tarporley and The Lion in Malpas – via a 13-mile stretch of the Sandstone Trail, a long-distance footpath known for its elevated views across the Cheshire Plain.

Priced at £199 per person, the package includes dinner, bed and breakfast at both inns, plus luggage transfer between the two, allowing walkers to tackle the trail without carrying overnight bags. An optional packed lunch is also available for the journey.

The experience begins with an evening at The Swan in Tarporley, where guests enjoy dinner before setting off the following morning. After a day on the trail, walkers arrive at The Lion in Malpas for their second night, with another evening meal included.

Both pubs are dog-friendly, with one dog staying free per booking and receiving treats and towels on arrival. The package also includes return transport to collect cars left at the starting point.

Bookings are available on flexible weekday dates and can be made by calling 01829 733838. or click here.

The Sandstone Trail runs for 34 miles through Cheshire, from Frodsham to Whitchurch, passing through wooded countryside and offering panoramic views from its ridge-top sections. This new package targets the central portion of the trail between two of the county's most picturesque villages.
