Leeds Leads The Way As Regions Outside London Drive The B Corp Movement Forward

Marking the end of B Corp Month, B Lab UK has revealed the top ten UK cities with the fastest growing B Corp communities — all of which fall outside of London.

Certified B Corporations, or B Corps, are reinventing how business is done by meeting the needs of people, the planet and profit. The UK B Corp community, now one of largest in the world, is made up of over 1,900 businesses committed to using business as a force for good. Historically, London has been the UK’s hub for B Corp certified businesses since the movement’s founding in 2015. However, in the last year, there has been a dramatic increase in companies outside the capital achieving B Corp Certification.

Leeds leads the progress with a 157% increase in the number of B Corps in the last year. This is followed by Nottingham (140%), Bristol (126%), Sheffield (100%) and Newcastle (80%). The full list can be seen in the table below:

A specially commissioned mural was unveiled in Manchester on Thursday, the eighth fastest growing B Corp city, as a celebration of the progress local companies have made in pushing the standard for business forward in the city.

Annie Olivier, Head of Growth at B Lab UK says:
“This Way Forward was the theme for B Corp Month this year, celebrating how the B Corp community is coming together to pave the way for better business. Becoming a B Corp isn’t the end of the road, it’s just the beginning and we’re delighted to see so many new businesses embarking on that journey.”

While 45% of B Corps are based in London, this number is down from 2023 (48%), indicating that many other cities are growing at a faster rate than the capital.
