The team behind Bishop Auckland’s award-winning spectacular Kynren – An Epic Tale of England is on the hunt for performers, stunt specialists and equestrian talent from across the North East to take starring roles in The Storied Lands, a new live-action history attraction opening next summer.

Billed as Britain’s first fully live history theme park, The Storied Lands will bring 2,000 years of British history roaring to life through performance, storytelling and spectacular live action.

Phase One of Kynren - The Storied Lands features four spectacular live-action shows and immersive experiences including Fina, a Medieval horse spectacular, an epic new Viking show, and a Victorian Adventure featuring larger-than-life characters from the past.

The Legend of the Wear will transform a vast lake into the stage for the Lambton Worm myth, brought to life with daring water stunts and stunning special effects.

Future phases will expand the park even further, with new shows, educational content, and themed experiences inspired by legendary tales such as Robin Hood, Excalibur, and the Tudors.

Organisers are seeking actors, acrobats, stunt performers, physical theatre artists, trick-riders and animal specialists, as well as those skilled in sword-fighting, fire-juggling, blacksmithing and woodworking.

Kynren CEO Anna Warnecke said the project represents a pivotal moment for both the regional economy and the wider tourism sector.

“This is a chance to be part of something truly unique,”

“We’re looking for talented individuals who want to challenge themselves, learn new skills and perform as part of a world-class team right here in County Durham.

“The Storied Lands is a thrilling new chapter in the Kynren story and will create opportunities for us to show the world what the region can achieve when we work together,” she added.

Performers can expect to work with experienced professional directors and choreographers on large-scale live shows staged throughout the summer.

Engagements will run from June to mid-September 2026, making the opportunity ideal for professionals or advanced students seeking hands-on industry experience.

Those interested should email recruitment@kynren.com to register their interest and list relevant experience. Open-call auditions will take place at Kynren on 17th –18th January 2026.

Other job fairs for roles in hospitality, retail, box office and park operations will be announced separately later in the year.
