Kendal’s Award-Winning Farmers Market will host the final Food School of 2025 on Friday, 10th October, before the team takes a well-earned pause to plot and plan next year’s programme.
The series will be rounded off in style with three sessions at 11am, 12pm, and 1pm – each one blending inspiration, local flavour, and plenty of tasters along the way.
11am – Ginger Bakers
Lisa Smith shares the story of Ginger Baker’s growth and their inspiring collaborations with community projects such as Growing Well, Waste into Wellbeing, and Right to Work. Expect a session full of volunteering spirit, community values – and yes, delicious cake.
12pm – Bean & Dunne
Michael Dunne proves that great coffee doesn’t need expensive equipment. Watch him roast coffee beans with nothing more than a camping hob and frying pan – and discover how simplicity can bring out incredible flavour.
1pm – Sweet Treats by Martin Frickel
From fine dining to fabulous cakes, Martin Frickel takes you through his culinary journey, sharing insights into his craft – with the promise of some irresistible samples.
Throughout the day, marketgoers can discover more about the produce they love, meet the passionate people behind the stalls, and pick up insider tips on how to make the most of fresh, local ingredients.
Running annually from April to October, Kendal Farmers Market Food School transforms the market into a hub of learning and inspiration on the second Friday of each month. It’s a chance for food lovers, curious visitors, and local producers to come together, exchange knowledge, and celebrate flavour, provenance, and creativity.
Halloween Fun at the Farmers Market – Friday 31st October
The Market will be brimming with spook-tacular fun this Halloween, perfectly timed for half-term family adventures. Expect a lively atmosphere, plenty of seasonal flavours, and a little mischief along the way...
Captain Quackers from Martindale Muscovies & Waterfowl will be causing feathered chaos with playful poultry antics.
A Halloween-themed treasure hunt will keep little monsters busy as they explore the market.
A pumpkin carving competition invites both kids and grown-ups to show off their creative skills – from the creepy to the downright silly.
Spooky games and activities add an extra layer of fun for all ages.
It’s the perfect excuse to linger longer, stock up on local produce, and plan a frightfully good weekend feast.
