JMG Group’s latest regional expansion brings three established brokers on board, strengthening its commercial expertise, Lake District presence and Scottish foothold.

The Yorkshire-based insurance broker has brought Solihull’s Boston Insurance Brokers, Kendal’s Hayton Insurance Brokers and Edinburgh-based Gateway Insurance Services into the Group, as it continues to attract high-quality regional firms with strong local reputations.

Boston Insurance Brokers, founded in 1994 by Gerry Boston and now led by his son Rob Boston, brings six experienced colleagues and additional construction sector knowledge. The family business, which has built strong relationships throughout the UK construction industry and with general commercial clients over three decades, will retain its independent approach while gaining access to wider insurance markets through JMG.

JM Glendinning Insurance Brokers North West, part of the JMG Group, has acquired Hayton Insurance Brokers marking JMG’s first step into the Lake District. Founder Neil Hayton, who has 27 years of industry experience, will continue to lead the business. JMG is also investing in a new office in Kendal, creating space for future team expansion.

The Group’s Scottish subsidiary, GS Group, has acquired Gateway Insurance Services, founded by MD Gareth McCallum in 2015. The deal gives GS Group its first base in Edinburgh and adds to Gateway’s presence in Glasgow and Fife, where it serves SME and personal clients across sectors including hospitality and construction.

Nick Houghton, JMG Group CEO, says: “We’re investing in great businesses with great people and these are no exception. They will continue under their existing leadership and retain their regional identities, ensuring business continuity for clients, while benefiting from our enhanced trading capabilities, market access and investment that comes with being part of a larger group.”
