Langdale Chase, the Lake District’s iconic, boutique luxury hotel, has been shortlisted in the prestigious Catey Awards 2025, widely regarded as the industry’s Oscars.

It is the only Lake District hotel to be recognised in the shortlist.

Langdale Chase - which is part of the Thwaites collection of hotels, spas and inns – has battled it out to be named a finalist in the Hotel of the Year (Group) category alongside four other hotels from across the country.

Widely regarded as the hospitality industry’s Oscars, The Cateys showcase and celebrates the very best hotels, hoteliers and staff across the UK.

Set on the shores of Lake Windermere, Langdale Chase reopened in November 2023 following a sensitive 12-month refurbishment.

Inspired by the ‘golden era’ of the Lake District, the interiors reflect the 1920s and 1930s, with a modern twist.

Boasting a two AA Rosette restaurant and a stylish art deco bar, both offer sweeping views over the water and the captivating Coniston Fells.

The 30 individually designed rooms and suites have elegant touches such as slipper baths, copper hot tubs and cosy reading nooks overlooking the lake.

Langdale Chase, also a member of Small Luxury Hotels, is regarded as the best lakeside address in the Lake District National Park and was featured in The Times ‘100 Best Places To Stay in the UK for 2024 and 2025.

The hotel also achieved five-star status just five months after reopening.

Winners of this year’s Catey Awards will be revealed at the prestigious award ceremony on the 7th July 2025 at JW Marriot Grosvenor House in London.
