Haven Holiday Parks Go Solar With £18m Investment

Leading UK holiday park operator, Haven, has announced plans to invest £18m in energy saving measures across 39 of its 41 parks.

The investment, to be completed by June this year, will significantly reduce the carbon footprint of more than three million guests and the 25,000 holiday homeowners who visit Haven’s parks.

More than £13 million will be spent on solar panels and £5m on decarbonization initiatives in response to a growing demand for eco-friendly holidays: more than 80% of Haven guests say that green energy is important to them with around 70% wanting to see more solar.

The new panels will generate 10% of the total energy that parks currently use.

In addition, new air source heat pumps are also being installed at three park swimming pool buildings.

This latest investment also includes £5 million for decarbonisation initiatives such as the installation of Building Management Systems to remotely control equipment set points and efficiency levels.

Simon Palethorpe, Managing Director at Haven, said: “We are on a mission to reduce our carbon emissions by 15% by the end of 2024…..these investments put sustainability at the heart of family staycations.”

Acquired by Blackstone in 2021, Haven has already invested almost £230 million in parks across 2021 and 2022 and this latest investment is part of £170m+ that has already been spent across 41 Haven coastal holiday parks in 2023.
