Boston Spa-based Martin House Children’s Hospice is launching its 36 Hour Give Campaign from Sunday 28 to Monday 29 September 2025, with a public fundraising target of £360,000. The ambitious fundraising campaign marks a major step towards completing THE BUILD, a £21.9 million redevelopment project of the hospice.

During this crucial 36-hour window, every pound donated will be doubled by match-funders, giving supporters the chance to make twice the impact at a critical stage of the hospice’s construction journey.

The campaign will encourage the community to get involved in fundraising, whether hosting an event, taking on a continuous 36-hour challenge, or becoming a Martin House ‘Champion’ to help spread the word, in a bid to reach the target of £360,000.

Clair Holdsworth, CEO of Martin House Children’s Hospice, said: "The public support we’ve received since launching THE BUILD has been nothing short of inspiring, and we appreciate every single penny donated to our incredible cause.

“Advances in medicine mean more children and young people with life-shortening conditions are living for longer and with increasingly complex needs. Our building, facilities and services must continuously evolve to meet these needs.

“We’re asking the amazing people of Yorkshire to join us in the 36 Hour Give, helping us reach our target and complete this essential £21.9m project."

The 36 Hour Give will officially launch on Sunday September 28 at Wetherby Town Hall, as the charity brings together supporters, community members and special guests including Emmerdale cast members, with support from the Mayor of Wetherby, Connor Mulhall.

The campaign has received support from Leeds United Football Club and the charity’s ambassador, Sir Gareth Southgate, former England men’s football manager, who added: "Your support and generosity during the 36 Hour Give will have double the impact on the children, young people, and their families across Yorkshire that use our much-needed services.

“Only with your help can we achieve an outstanding result for Martin House Children’s Hospice and the people we support."

HARIBO UK, headline sponsor of THE BUILD, has continued to provide vital funding and visibility to the appeal.

Jon Hughes, Managing Director at HARIBO UK & Ireland, said: "As a proud Yorkshire business, it’s been a privilege to support Martin House as headline sponsor of THE BUILD. Now in its 17th year, our partnership with the charity continues to create special moments of childlike happiness for families in West Yorkshire.

“We’ve already seen that Martin House and THE BUILD can transform lives, and the addition of the hydrotherapy pool will be a powerful step forward, bringing comfort, relief, and moments of joy to those who need it most."

During the 36 Hour Give, Martin House is calling on the public to help bring this transformative project to life.
