Ferens Open Exhibition
Unique Art to See, Love, and Purchase, at this Year’s Ferens Open Exhibition - celebrates some of the best artistic talent in the region. The exhibition will feature more than 270 artworks including paintings, sculptures, photography, ceramics, textiles and film produced by local amateur and professional artists. Many of the artworks are for sale, giving visitors the opportunity to buy and own a unique piece of art. The artwork on display was selected by a panel of judges consisting of: artist and photographer Colin Gray, whose photographs are in the Ferens’ permanent collection, Senior Curator at the Arts Council Collection Natalie Rudd, and Kofi Smiles, Breakfast Presenter at BBC Radio Humberside. The annual event remains central to the Ferens commitment to supporting and developing local and emerging artistic talent.

Extraordinary People Exhibition
Earlier this year Preston Park Museum & Grounds asked the people of Tees Valley to nominate their local Lockdown Legend to be in with a chance of having their portrait created and displayed in an art exhibition, Extraordinary People. More than 100 entries poured in from people who wanted to nominate inspirational people who deserved recognition during the pandemic. The Extraordinary People portrait exhibition has been co-curated with artists and local community groups. It explores the traditional medium of portraiture as well as celebrating the people who we believe to be extraordinary and deserving of a place in history.

Pride in Our City
Ferens Art Gallery will host a new exhibition this summer celebrating Hull’s LGBTQ+ history and documenting people’s experiences of being part of LGBTQ+ communities in the city. The exhibition will build upon an online exhibition that launched during lockdown and is still available to view on the Humber Museums Partnership website.

Backstage tour and lunch
This socially distanced heritage tour will include all of the public areas of the building as well as the auditorium and backstage areas where possible, and also explain how the theatre changed in the recent restoration. - Lunch is a choice of sandwich and either a hot or cold drink.
