York Hotel Re-Opens But It’s No Shambles!

Dog friendly Galtres Lodge, an independently owned hotel in the centre of York, has re-opened its doors with a sparkling facelift and stunning views of the Minster.

The boutique property, originally two Georgian townhouses, has just 12 rooms and is a stone’s throw from the city’s oldest and most famous street, the Shambles.

Now boasting a brand new reception area, guests will experience a cosy, warm setting upon entering the hotel. Venturing through the building, major transformations undertaken in public areas such as the hotel corridors and staircases, alongside the newly refurbished Forest restaurant, are aiming to delight visitors.
The hotel's oak-adorned rooms, which boast Georgian-themed décor and spectacular sights of York Minster, are accompanied by delicious dishes from the Forest restaurant.

Rebecca Hill, owner of Galtres Lodge Hotel, said: “It's a wonderful feeling to be open again and to be welcoming guests at both the hotel and Forest restaurant. We're especially excited for visitors to see the results of our refurbishment, which has been keeping us busy during the lockdown and has given us something positive to focus on at an otherwise difficult time.

“The response so far has been fantastic, and we have noticed an increase of 50% in bookings for June, which shows that consumer confidence is strong.

"We've also noticed a slight change in consumer behaviour since we announced our reopening, with people now planning further ahead with bookings and booking throughout the week - not just for weekends.

"This is incredibly reassuring to those working in hospitality as it shows people are still choosing to support the sector and will come at other days and times to do so," she added.
