Winning Yorkshire Innovation Comes Out On Top With Parents

A national food product developed by a renowned Yorkshire chef has just been shortlisted for an award on a popular parenting website.

Real Good Ketchup has been shortlisted in the Mum Choice Awards 2021, an annual competition run by UKTVMums, the number one site for mums. Real Good Ketchup was the only table sauce to be shortlisted.

The Real Good brand commissioned Keith Miller, formerly the Futures Innovations Development Chef at Greencore, to develop its no added sugar Tomato Ketchup, which has won the acclaim of parents across the UK for its great taste and health credentials.

"When developing Real Good Tomato Ketchup with no added sugar, the challenge was to keep the recipe as clean as possible, so artificial chemical sweeteners were not considered, as used in market leading ketchups. Natural plant sweeteners were the way forward, which is not only healthier, but crucially allowed the sweetness and full flavour of the tomatoes to be the main taste." reflects Keith

Elizabeth Jones, founder of the Real Good brand, comments: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted in the UKTVMums Mums Choice Awards 2021. It is awards like these that remind us that we are creating the very best product to meet a growing demand for no added sugar and all-natural products for children and families.”

“From previous food development work with Keith I knew he would be the best at developing Real Good Ketchup to meet our no added sugar and health brand guidelines. Once sugar is removed, the cooking process becomes challenging and the taste harder to achieve. Keith did a brilliant job finding the right balance with plant-based sugar alternatives to hit our nutritional targets suitable for children with a delicious taste."

This latest award adds to Real Good’s tally of top accolades, which include the World Food Innovation Award Best Children's Product Winner 2021 and Food Talk Clean Eating Gold Award. Real Good Ketchup is Sugarwise certified free from added sugars.

Real Good Ketchup is currently No 1 on Ocado in the no added sugar ketchup category and is served to over 30,000 school children across the UK. The business exports to the Middle East where levels of diabetes are high and sugar reduction is important.

Sustainably produced, the Real Good product range is powered by renewable energy and its bottles and caps are recycled into building materials, drain pipes, and potholes. For more information on Real Good Ketchup visit www.realgoodketchup.com
