Christmas songs… they’re a contentious issue in any office setting. With the festive season upon us, flexible workspace platform, Spacepool, has finally settled the squabbles over the playlist.

50 Spotify playlists, containing 3,383 songs, and 1,228 Reddit responses were analysed to reveal exactly what month Christmas songs can be played, which are least likely to get you in trouble, and which artists are essential listening in the festive period.

58% say leave Christmas songs until December, but 1 in 10 listen all year round

The company analysed the responses of 1,228 Redditors asked ‘when should you listen to Christmas music?’ to reveal the month that you can start blaring Last Christmas with impunity.

More than half – 706 respondents – said that Christmas songs should be limited to December (bah humbug).

However, it turns out there are more committed festives than grinches, with 1 in 10 reporting they listen to Christmas songs all year round versus just 7.7% saying they never do.

Bublé appeared a whopping 109 times across all 50 analysed. In comparison, Bing Crosby appeared 103 times, and Nat King Cole, 80.

Ariana Grande was a surprise addition to the list of artists that were festive favourites. The most-popular Christmas songs can be considered classics.
