The MG Cyberster Comes To Yorkshire

This week saw Yorkshire car dealership Luscombe MG Leeds welcome a very special visitor. The remarkable MG Cyberster was making its first stop on its global journey, commencing in London and culminating in Shanghai.

This unveiling presented a one-of-a-kind chance to see the MG Cyberster up close and offered an exciting preview before its official release in the summer of 2024. Luscombes were honoured to have been specially selected as the inaugural leg of this remarkable journey and this was the only stop in God’s own country.



Full details of the Cyberster will be revealed in due course but the aim is to put the unique electric roadster on sale for around £50,000. Whether that is achievable, we will see but I would not bet against MG’s Chinese owners from succeeding.

My sources tell me a range of 250 miles is likely, more than plenty for a car that will be used for high days and holidays.

Convertible sports cars don’t figure highly, if at all, in the rush to electrify. Mazda has confirmed that its next generation MX-5, due in 2026 will be electrified, but has stopped short of saying in what form this will take – hybrid, plug-in-hybrid or a full EV.

The Cyberster is a good-looking car and there’s the added theatre of scissor doors that open upwards like a Lamborghini. Top models may not be that far removed performance wise if my recent experience of the MG4 XPOWER is anything to go by. How does a 0-62mph sprint time of just 3.8 seconds sound?

So, Cyberster has the looks and performance to excite, and I look forward to getting behind the wheel next year.
