TransPennine Express (TPE) is strongly urging customers travelling to/from Edinburgh/Glasgow not to travel until at least 12pm on Monday 22 January.

The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for Sunday 21 January and Monday 22 January, with strong winds and heavy rainfall across much of Scotland and England.

The weather is causing significant disruption on the West Coast Main Line so, due to worsening conditions on the route, we are strongly advising customers to do not travel between Preston and Edinburgh and Preston and Glasgow on Sunday and Monday.

Services across the rest of the network are expected to be impacted, we strongly recommend you check before you travel and plan ahead. Details of specific service updates can be found on JourneyCheck.

Customers should continue to check their journeys on Monday 22 January as services may also be impacted by the storm.

Kathryn O’Brien, Customer Experience and Operations Director for TransPennine Express said:
“Our number one priority is to keep our customers and colleagues safe, and we will be doing all we can to keep people moving in difficult conditions.

“We are urging anyone travelling across the affected routes to plan ahead, allow extra time, check their journey up until the last minute, and follow the guidance provided.”
