LNER Proud To Join Pride Celebrations Across The East Coast Route This Summer

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) is proud to be supporting Pride celebrations this summer.

Pride events are planned at destinations across the East Coast route over the coming weeks. At York, LNER is adding some extra sparkle by decorating the iconic station in Pride colours and hosting a pop-up glitter bar. There will also be a warm welcome for customers from drag artist Miss Ellie Ganza and a photobooth to capture memories with LNER teams available to offer travel advice as they join colleagues in the wider industry to celebrate diversity, equality and inclusion.

Claire Ansley, People and Customer Experience Director at LNER, said: “We are passionate about creating an inclusive workforce where our people feel able to be themselves, and our communities along the LNER route are also very important to us. We’re delighted to be supporting Pride, representing our colleagues and customers in the communities we serve.”

Events at York Railway Station will take place on the morning of Saturday 18 June 2022 as York Pride gets underway. LNER colleagues will join the official parade as it makes its way around the city, making a return since the last parade was held in 2019.

Greg Stephenson, Chair of York Pride, said: “It’s wonderful to see LNER’s commitment to Equality and Diversity for employees and customers alike. We are delighted to be working with LNER. York Pride has grown to become one of the largest free one-day events in the city and it wouldn’t be possible without the support of local employers like LNER.”

LNER’s charity partner, the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is also taking part in the Pride activity sharing information about the support they offer.

Simon Gunning, CEO, CALM said: "We are absolutely thrilled to be back at Pride events up and down the country with our incredible long-standing partners LNER. With LGBT+ people at disproportionate risk of suicide, it is vital we are there for the entire LGBT+ community to raise awareness of these issues and of the support that is available for anyone struggling."

York Pride is one of the largest free Pride events on the East Coast route and is expected to attract more than 20,000 visitors to the city
