Geezer Butler - The Very Best Of - Prepare To Be Surprised *****

Though primarily known for being the bassist in Black Sabbath, Geezer Butler has also had a successful solo career, so much so that he has enough material to release a Best of Album.

If you are expecting lots of Black Sabbath type tracks you might be surprised to discover that it is not just doom metal tracks. Butler explores industrial metal and groove metal.

A lot of the vocals on the songs are provided by Burton C Bell from Fear Factory which gives a versatile vocal performance.

Man In A Suitcase comes from the second studio album of Butler’s band GZR. A melodic rock track weaves its way into your subconscious.

The Invisible is more akin though to the traditional Sabbath tracks with a chorus that belongs more to Ozzy Osbourne, but the lyric deals with the issue of the homeless - something you would not expect to hear on a metal track.

Mysterons is named after Captain Scarlet’s extra terrestrial opponents as the full on rock track glides along like a Formula 1 race driver.

The Sci-Fi influence continues on Among The Cybermen which relates back to Butler's massive vintage toy selection.

By the end of listening to the seventeen tracks you have heard some furiously ferocious rock tracks that stand up in their own right.
