Celebrate The Coronation Of King Charles III In Style At The Races

British horseracing will be celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III in style at fourteen racecourses from 6th – 8th May. To mark the momentous occasion, all fixtures will host a wide range of celebratory activities, paying tribute to the special connection between the Royal Family and horseracing.

The QIPCO Guineas Festival at Newmarket, taking place Friday 5th – Sunday 7th May, is celebrating the Coronation with a weekend of themed activities. Saturday 6th May will have a community theme running throughout with a street-party themed afternoon. Plenty will be on offer for the young ones too, including activities such as a bouncy castle, garden games, face painting, balloon modelling, and crown colourings with a parade of crowns. Under 18s race free at all fixtures and Thirsk, Uttoxeter, Ayr, Salisbury, Hamilton Park, Worcester, and Southwell have family-themed days. See full list of fixtures below.

To mark the Coronation of King Charles III, Great British Racing has commissioned an art piece, created by James Owen Thomas, using recyclable materials from the sport of horseracing. The piece features colours of the Royal racing silks, which are among the most recognisable in the sport, to mark the longstanding relationship the Royal Family have with the industry. Racing’s commemorative art piece will be unveiled at Pontefract Racecourse on Wednesday 3rd May, and will move to Thirsk Racecourse on Saturday 6th May for racegoers to see.

Other racecourse including Goodwood, Ayr, Doncaster, Hexham, and Windsor to name a few, are all putting on Royal celebrations to mark the Coronation. From live music and street parties inside the racecourse, to Coronation themed treats, there will be something for all ages to indulge. A full list of fixtures taking place over the Coronation and Bank Holiday weekend can be found here.
