Best Foot Forward : Officer And A Gentleman Stars Visit Local Barracks

Fired up with enthusiasm: cast members from An Officer and a Gentleman
Fired up with enthusiasm: cast members from An Officer and a Gentleman
Actors from An Officer and a Gentleman - which is playing at Newcastle Theatre Royal - have been put through their paces by the army at Newcastle’s Fenham Army Barracks.

Kitted out in army gear, leading players in the musical, which is about naval recruits aspiring to be officers, were fired up with enthusiasm during the visit.

Luke Baker, Georgia Lennon, Paul French, and Olivia Foster-Browne climbed on board a range of vehicles including high mobility reconnaissance vehicles, watched a display of weapons and learnt how to use them.

Similar to scenes in the musical’s fictitious plot they were put through their paces – but this time by a real life drill sergeant.

The visit was particularly special for Hartlepool born Georgia Lennon who plays leading lady Paula Pokrifki and is swept off her feet by Luke Baker as Zack Mayo.

This role marks the biggest break of Georgia’s career since graduating in 2020 and she is delighted to be back in the North East.

An Officer and a Gentleman plays at Newcastle Theatre Royal until Saturday, 18 May 2024. Tickets can be purchased at www.theatreroyal.co.uk or from the Theatre Royal Box Office on 0191 232 7010. Read our review here.
