5 Stars

Adele's 30 is destined to be the biggest album of 2021. Though the wait has been nowhere near as long as the one for ABBA's Voyage, the hype has been even more impressive. While ABBA's fanbase went crazy with a sense of nostalgia, Adele's craved a chance to share once again in her emotional journey.

While her divorce from Simon Konecki has been well documented, 30 sees Adele telling her side of the story. With raw and very real honesty, Adele's lyrics are even more personal than on her prior releases.

Although this is perhaps expected from Adele, it is the shake up of her musical direction that makes 30 memorable. With lead single, Easy On Me, the most typical Adele moment on the album, the remainder of 30 explores a range of genres, without losing a sense of who Adele is.

The euphoric Oh My God is the album's stadium filling anthem, while the sensational Love Is A Game is a tender reflection. Woman Like Me harks back to the sparse sounds of 19 to become the album's crowning glory.

30 is an unexpected musical journey, but one that it feels like the listener needed to take and not just Adele.
