A Host Of Celebrities Support Local Adoption Charity

Adoption Matters, children’s charity and one of the largest voluntary adoption agencies in the UK, actual and virtual Teddy Bears’ Picnic and Open Garden on Saturday 21st August is being supported by Sara Davies from Dragon’s Den, BBC North West Tonight’s Roger Johnson, together with Actor and Comedian John Thomson, Dame Arlene Phillips and Gail Porter.

Adoption Matters, like everyone in the UK right now, is still dealing with the impact of Covid-19 and as the health and safety of their staff and families is paramount so their planned Teddy Bears’ Picnic on 21st August is an actual and a virtual event!

The charity is asking you to grab your favourite Teddy Bear and pack a picnic for a Teddy Bears’ Picnic at home or at the actual event. As well as asking you to have your own favourite story book at the ready, the charity is delighted that some very special guests will also be reading stories on the day. These will feature on their website from the week before the event.

The actual event taking place in the beautiful gardens and woodland at Ashton Grange, Ashton Hayes just outside of Chester will have a Teddy Bear Trail, storytelling and a children’s magician!

The venue at Ashton Grange has a traditional country house garden with sweeping lawns, herbaceous borders, kitchen garden and unusual trees. Visitors on the day can wander through mature woodland, see tree carvings, visit the wild flower meadow with lovely views and sit by a large wildlife pond.

Adoption Matters Fundraising & Relationship Manager, Sarah Johnson commented:
“We are so delighted at the support we have been given by our fabulous guest storytellers and can’t wait to share their videos of them reading some fantastic stories.

As part of the registration for the Teddy Bears' Picnic/Open Garden supporters will have their own personal fundraising page which they can use to help raise money for Adoption Matters. They can pick their very own Teddy Bear Challenge such as a sponsored silence, read, fun run, walk or dance, or they can give up something they love for a week such as chocolate, sweets or fizzy drinks.

Everyone raising more than £20 will receive one of our gorgeous Adoption Matters Teddy Bears as a thank you!”

The virtual event, in addition to all the amazing stories, will have some great resources to share with families including craft videos, recipe ideas, puzzles and even downloadable Adoption Matters bunting.

To take part in the Teddy Bears’ Picnic/Open Garden, we are asking for just £5 per adult – children go FREE - with all proceeds helping our important work in supporting more adoptive families across the UK”.

The charity is asking families taking part to share their photos / videos of their picnics with them using the hashtag #AMTeddyPicnic
