What does a typical working day for you involve?

I always start the day at the office with a coffee, to get me into productive mode. I’ll then check my inbox, deal with any quick tasks and update my to do list and review my diary. I manage a large office and much of the rest of the day is spent supporting our legal teams and clients. The only typical thing is that I will have at least four cups of coffee, to help keep me firing on all cylinders.

What makes your company special?

Our staff and the service we deliver to clients are excellent. High quality service is something we take great pride in. Our culture and environment are very supportive and I believe that shines through in the work we deliver on behalf of clients.

Do you have any business rules that you swear by?

Honest, frequent, and straight forward communication is key. I believe in treating everyone fairly and keeping clients and employees as up to date as possible so that no one is left in the dark.

Do you dress up or down for work?

The pandemic has changed this for me. I will always dress business smart if I have meetings but now, I dress smart casual if I am in the office and don’t have client meetings.

What piece of advice would you give your 18-year-old self?

Don’t feel pressured to decide what you want to do with your life. Take time, try different things and don’t be afraid to change your mind. I’d also suggest finding a mentor who is already doing the role you aspire to do. Do well, try hard and you will reap rewards.

What’s your favourite Yorkshire venue for an event or team away day?

Yorkshire Wildlife Park is always a great place to visit. I’ve been to a range of functions there and their hospitality is second to none. Their recent expansion gives even more reason to pay them a visit.

How do you prefer to travel for business?

I love to travel by train so I can have a coffee and keep on top of work while I travel. However, more often than not, I drive due to tight schedules and trying to fit in more than one appointment when I’m away from the office.

What’s your favourite place in Yorkshire to relax?

The Yorkshire side of the Peak District. I love to walk with my family and children, soak up the scenery – especially the waterfalls. We go via Ecclesall Road and dash into Pom Kitchen to fuel up with sandwiches for a nice day out.

Where is your favourite place to eat in Yorkshire, and what dish do you recommend?

Temple of Fun at Kelham Island in Sheffield. They serve the most amazing vegan food and local gins. I’d highly recommend any of their vegan stacked burgers – and a stretchy waistband!

What do you miss most about Yorkshire when you’re away?

The water and a proper cup of Yorkshire tea. It just doesn’t taste the same outside of the region.
